Description
Bergamot essential oil is cold pressed from the peel of Citrus bergamia fruit grown in Calabria, Italy, then vacuum distilled to remove bergaptene (FCF). It has a bright, fresh citrus aroma with subtle spicy undertones, and is a sparkling top note.
Prized by perfumers for centuries, bergamot is a favourite in aromatherapy for its uplifting, balancing effect on mood, and is traditionally associated with easing stress and lifting the spirits, especially through the darker winter months. Both calming and energising, it brightens blends with florals, woods and spices. Because it is bergaptene-free, it is not considered phototoxic, but it should still be diluted and patch tested before skin use.
- Bright, fresh citrus aroma with subtle spicy undertones
- Sparkling top note that lifts and balances blends
- Traditionally associated with easing stress and lifting the mood
- Bergaptene-free (FCF), so not considered phototoxic
Blends well with: Black pepper, clary sage, cypress, frankincense, geranium, jasmine, mandarin, nutmeg, orange, rosemary, sandalwood, vetiver and ylang ylang
