Description
Clary Sage essential oil is steam distilled from the leaves and flowering tops of Salvia sclarea grown in France. It is a clear to pale yellow oil with a sweet, herbaceous, slightly floral aroma, and acts as a middle note.
Long valued in aromatherapy as a warming, deeply relaxing oil, it is traditionally associated with easing tension and stress, lifting a low mood and encouraging a creative outlook, and some find it enhances dream recall. It is a popular choice for evening blends with lavender, citrus and frankincense. It has a mild estrogen-like character, so avoid it during pregnancy, and skip alcohol while using it, as together they can increase drowsiness.
- Sweet, herbaceous, slightly floral aroma
- Warm middle note that softens and balances blends
- Traditionally associated with relaxation and easing tension
- Pairs well with lavender, frankincense, sandalwood and citrus
Blends well with: Juniper, lavender, pine, geranium, sandalwood, jasmine, frankincense and citrus oils
