Description
Jamaican Black Castor Oil comes from the same plant as standard castor oil (Ricinus communis), but the seeds are roasted before pressing. Roasting gives it a dark burnt orange to reddish-brown colour, a stronger nutty, roasted aroma and a small amount of natural ash. It is a thick, rich oil that coats hair and skin well.
It is traditionally used as a hair and scalp oil, especially for thicker or curly hair, where it is popular for sealing in moisture and leaving hair feeling smoother and well conditioned. Many people warm it for a hot-oil treatment, mix it with a lighter oil to make it easier to spread, or massage a little into dry patches of skin on the body.
- Rich, thick oil that seals in moisture
- A traditional favourite for curly and thick hair
- Leaves dry hair feeling smoother
- Deep roasted colour and aroma
Pairs well with: Jojoba, sweet almond, coconut, rosemary, lavender and cedarwood
