Description
Melissa essential oil, also known as lemon balm, is steam distilled from the leaves and flowering tops of Melissa officinalis, grown in Bulgaria. It is a pale yellow to golden oil with a bright, lemony, herbaceous aroma. Genuine Melissa has an exceptionally low yield, which makes it one of the most precious oils in aromatherapy.
Fresh, uplifting and gently soothing, it is popular for creating a calm, comforting atmosphere and is traditionally associated with relaxation and emotional balance. Its soft citrus character blends beautifully with florals, citrus and woods. It can irritate skin and seriously harm the eyes, so use it sparingly and well diluted.
