Description
Palmarosa essential oil is steam distilled from the aromatic leaves of the grass Cymbopogon martinii, grown in India. It has a fresh, sweet-grassy aroma with a mild rosy character, and acts as a middle note. It is often called Indian geranium for its likeness to rose geranium.
Its soft, floral scent is traditionally associated in aromatherapy with easing everyday tension and encouraging a calm, uplifted mood, and it is a popular, affordable way to bring a rosy note to diffuser blends. It pairs well with florals, citrus and woods. It can cause serious eye damage and is a skin irritant and sensitiser, so keep it well away from the eyes, dilute it and patch test first.

Uses
- Diffuser or vaporiserAdd 3–5 drops to your diffuser or oil burner with water for a calm, uplifting floral room aroma, on its own or with lavender and bergamot.
- BathMix 2–3 drops into a tablespoon of carrier oil or unscented bath base first, then add it to a warm bath. Never add undiluted essential oil to bath water.
- Massage and aromatherapyIf you use it in massage, aromatherapy or other skin applications, always dilute it in a carrier oil at around 1–2% (roughly 6–12 drops per 30ml). Keep it well away from the eye area. Patch test first.

Safety & storage
- For external use only. Do not take internally.
- Never apply undiluted to the skin. Always dilute in a carrier oil.
- Palmarosa is a skin irritant and a skin sensitiser due to its high geraniol content. Patch test the diluted blend on a small area for 24 hours before full use.
- Palmarosa can cause serious eye damage. Keep well away from eyes and mucous membranes, and do not use on broken or irritated skin.
- Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or for babies and young children, unless advised by a qualified practitioner.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.
Storage: Store tightly capped in the original dark glass bottle, away from heat and direct sunlight.
