Turmeric essential oil is steam distilled from the rhizomes of Curcuma longa, grown in India. It has a warm, woody, earthy aroma with spicy, musky undertones, and is a grounding base note. Its scent comes from turmerones, while the coloured curcumin turmeric is known for stays behind in the plant and is not in the oil.
Its warm, grounding character is popular in diffuser blends for moments of rest and mindfulness, and it adds depth to spicy and citrus blends with ginger, orange and cardamom. It has a strong natural colour, so take care with fabrics and light surfaces. It can irritate skin and eyes, may cause an allergic reaction and may increase sun sensitivity in some people, so always dilute well and patch test first.

Uses
- Diffuser or vaporiserAdd 2–4 drops to your diffuser or oil burner with water for a warm, grounding room aroma, or blend with orange and ginger.
- BathMix 2–3 drops into a tablespoon of carrier oil or unscented bath base first, then add it to a warm bath. Never add undiluted essential oil to bath water.
- Massage and aromatherapyIf you use it in massage, aromatherapy or other skin applications, always dilute it in a carrier oil at around 1% (roughly 6 drops per 30ml). It may stain fabrics and light surfaces. Patch test first.

Safety & storage
- For external use only. Do not take internally.
- Never apply undiluted to the skin. Always dilute in a carrier oil, and note it may stain skin, fabrics and light surfaces.
- Skin and eye irritant that may cause an allergic skin reaction and increase sun sensitivity in some people. Patch test the diluted blend on a small area for 24 hours, and limit sun exposure on treated skin.
- Keep away from eyes and mucous membranes. Do not use on broken or irritated skin.
- Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or for babies and young children, unless advised by a qualified practitioner.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.
Storage: Store tightly capped in the original dark glass bottle, away from heat and direct sunlight.
